For literally thousands of years (one of the oldest known records being a 13 000-year-old cave painting from Australia depicting a mushroom), plants have been used to alter states of consciousness. From the Amazon with Ayahuasca made from 2 trees from the approximate 150 000 tree species found in the area, ancient Greece where traces of Psilocybin and Ergot can still be found in ancient ceremonial jars and the Mayans where mushroom statues are prevalent, to the American Indians who use San-Pedro, a cactus extract for healing ceremonies. Think about Moses and the “burning bush”, and that the acacia tree which is very high in DMT and is very common in the area could be associated with this famous story in Christian history.
Closer to today we are once again on a real psychedelic revolution with documentaries like FANTASTIC FUNGI and projects like M.A.P.S (multidisciplinary association of psychedelic studies) making amazing progress in getting these amazing medicines available and legal for both therapy and personal growth.
The “war on drugs” from the Nixon presidency who banned psychedelics along with numerous other mind-altering substances from the early 70’s where amazing research was being done using them for PTSD, anxiety, alcoholism, drug addiction, end of life treatment to many other addictions and disorders which left a huge hole in research is finally seeing the light of day. It is my belief that these will soon become available and legal for adult use under the right settings and conditions. This is becoming very evident in parts of the world whereby they are gaining traction as a incredible treatment.
